About

Maggie Cushman, LADC

I'm a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). My career spans PHP, IOP, and outpatient care in Maine and California. I believe recovery isn't about becoming someone new. It's about recovering the goodness in you that was lost to addiction.

I chose the name Blue Skies Ahead because of my own experience in recovery. As long as you stay sober, there is always reason for hope. There are happy days and blue skies ahead for each of us.

How I work

We work as a team.

Recovery is about recovering the best version of you and learning how to live that version. I'm here to help with that.

My practice is about how to live once you've stopped drinking or using. When the substances are gone and you have physical sobriety, we can begin to work on recovery at a deeper level by focusing on emotional sobriety and a spirituality that fits you. This journey involves all aspects of your life, including work, relationships, codependency, and process addictions.

Substance use is often a symptom of pain. Together we look at where that pain comes from and how to begin healing now that you are sober. Then we work on living by your values and making choices that align with them.

I have 35 years of sobriety through the 12 steps, and while I am a proponent of them, I've also been around addiction long enough to know that each of us has to find our own way.
